Postpartum Support

What to Expect from In-Home Postpartum Support

If you've never worked with a postpartum doula, it's natural to wonder what actually happens. Here's an honest look at what an in-home visit looks like—and how it helps.

It starts with what you need that day

No two visits are identical, because no two days postpartum are identical. Some days you need hands-on help with the baby; other days you need someone to hold the baby so you can sleep, shower, or eat a real meal. A good visit begins with a quick check-in: how are you, how did the night go, and what would help most right now?

Newborn care and feeding support

I can care for your newborn while you rest—soothing, diapering, bathing—and help you build confidence with feeding, whether that's latching, positioning, paced bottle-feeding, or establishing a pumping routine. The goal is always to leave you more capable, not dependent.

Rest, meals, and a calmer home

Protected rest is a cornerstone of recovery, so much of the work is simply making space for it. That might mean preparing a light, nourishing meal in your kitchen, tidying the spaces you live in, folding a load of laundry, or keeping the household running quietly while you and the baby sleep.

Emotional support, without judgment

The fourth trimester brings a full range of feelings. A postpartum doula offers a grounded, nonjudgmental presence—space to ask the questions you're afraid are silly, to process a hard birth, or simply to not be alone with it all. When something needs more than I can offer, I'll help you connect with the right resources.

Daytime or overnight

Support can be scheduled during the day or overnight. Overnight visits mean I care for your baby through the night so you can get the restorative, consolidated sleep your body needs to heal—often the single most valuable thing in the early weeks.
